Explanation

How Calculator works

The calculator processes a whole calculation instead of just two values. This lets you set parentheses, copy intermediate results and reopen calculations from the history.

Memory functions help with longer tasks: M+ adds the current result, M− subtracts it, MR retrieves the stored value and MC clears the memory.

In scientific mode, trigonometric functions, logarithms, powers and constants are available. With DEG/RAD you choose between degrees and radians.

Practice

Practical examples

Use parentheses

With (120 + 80) × 0.19 you calculate a tax or a surcharge on a subtotal.

Use the memory

Compute a partial amount, store it with M+ in memory and reuse it later with MR.

Keyboard instead of mouse

Numbers, operators, parentheses, Enter, Backspace and Escape work directly via the keyboard.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How does the percent key work?

The percent key turns a number into its hundredth value. So 15 % is used as 0.15. For 200 − 15 % this gives 170.

What can the scientific mode do?

In scientific mode you have sine, cosine, tangent, arc functions, logarithms, powers, factorial and constants such as π and e.

Are decimal point or comma supported?

Yes. You can enter a comma or a point. The display uses German notation (comma as the decimal separator).

What do DEG and RAD mean?

DEG computes angles in degrees (360° in a circle), RAD in radians (2π in a circle). The default is DEG.

Can I operate the calculator with the keyboard?

Yes. All digits, operators (+, -, *, /), Enter to calculate and Escape to clear work via the keyboard. In scientific mode also ^ for powers and ! for factorial.

Is there a history of previous calculations?

Yes. Every completed calculation is stored in the history and can be loaded back into the input with a click. The history remains until the page is closed.

How do I calculate roots or powers?

In scientific mode: square root via the √ key, arbitrary roots as a power (e.g. 8^(1/3) for the cube root). Powers directly with the x^y key or the ^ symbol.

Are my inputs sent to a server?

No. All calculations take place locally in the browser. No data is transmitted or stored.

Tips

Good to know

  • Use Enter or = to add a finished calculation to the history.
  • Use Escape to clear the current input.
  • The calculator evaluates multiplication and division before addition and subtraction.
  • In scientific mode you can work directly with ^ and ! via the keyboard.
